Students will explore how local government helps a community through hands-on map, photo, and role-play investigation, then sort early evidence, generate questions, and create a first simple plan idea with partner feedback to prepare for later research.

Students will sort observations from the kickoff stations, turn their curiosity into a focused investigable question, draft a simple hypothesis and discussion plan, and share a first class problem-solving plan for peer feedback before moving into evidence gathering.

Students will finalize a focused investigation plan, gather and record evidence from maps, photos, role-play notes, and short texts, check the quality of their records with peers, and build a shared class evidence log that can support later conclusions about how local government helps the community.

Students will analyze evidence from their community investigation, turn notes into simple visuals and claims, revise their explanations through peer and visitor feedback, and prepare key slideshow and showcase pieces that explain how local government helps the community and how people work together.

Students will present their final community investigation products to an authentic audience, explain how local government helps the community using evidence from maps, photos, and role-play notes, and reflect on how their thinking and teamwork changed.
