Students will launch the Mott Haven air-quality investigation by observing neighborhood conditions with South Bronx Unite, recording organized field notes, analyzing a first set of local data, and naming initial questions and project expectations for the weeks ahead.

Students will refine a puzzling neighborhood air-quality pattern into a focused investigation question, draft a testable hypothesis, and design a peer-reviewed method for collecting and organizing evidence with counts, rates, variables, and simple algebraic representations.

Students will carry out their team data-collection plan, record neighborhood and air-quality evidence in consistent formats, clean and validate their datasets, and confirm that their evidence is strong enough for later algebraic comparison and solution analysis.

Students will analyze their validated Mott Haven air-quality and neighborhood observation data, create graphs and algebraic representations, test and compare solution ideas, refine evidence-based claims through peer critique, and assemble a polished team presentation for South Bronx Unite before the public showcase phase.

Students will present their completed air-quality investigations to South Bronx Unite and the school community, defend their data claims with algebraic and visual evidence, respond to audience questions, and close the project with a brief reflection circle on mathematical learning and collaboration.
