Learning Goals

1

Students will be able to investigate the needs, interests, language proficiency, and cultural perceptions of Spanish 1–2 readers and family partners through empathetic user research.

2

Students will be able to synthesize firsthand evidence and multiple credible Spanish- and English-language sources about a Spanish-speaking country or community to support culturally accurate and respectful representation.

3

Students will be able to analyze and apply the imperfect and preterite in Spanish narratives to distinguish contextual background from completed, plot-advancing events.

4

Students will be able to ideate and prototype illustrated Spanish-language story concepts that translate cultural research and reader needs into accessible, engaging narrative experiences.

5

Students will be able to test and refine Spanish writing, cultural representation, illustrations, and accessibility using peer, teacher, family, and target-reader feedback.

6

Students will be able to justify and communicate collaborative storybook decisions using research evidence, audience feedback, grammatical reasoning, and strategic digital or visual media.
