Learning Goals
Students will be able to analyze how the characteristics of Wisconsin regions and sea environments affect animal traits, habitats, and survival.
Students will be able to explain how pollution, invasive species, habitat loss, and conservation actions affect animals, plants, and people.
Students will be able to evaluate teacher-curated environmental sources by identifying the author, evidence, relevance, and signs of reliability.
Students will be able to construct a claim about which conservation solution should be supported using evidence, scientific reasoning, and a fair response to another view.
Students will be able to justify an event-room layout using multiplication, rectangular area, labeled dimensions, and spatial constraints.
Students will be able to calculate and defend an itemized charity-event budget using multiplication and addition within a fixed spending limit.
Students will be able to defend a conservation recommendation for a public audience using clear speaking, visual evidence, and respectful responses to questions.
Students will be able to contribute to a shared conservation project by making decisions, fulfilling a role, resolving disagreements, and revising work from feedback.

Conservation Evidence Brief and Event-Planning Proposal
Each student independently creates an illustrated brief with a source-evidence log, environmental explanation, CER recommendation, fair response to another view, room-layout calculation, itemized budget, presentation notes, and collaboration reflection. The brief uses a teacher-curated text set and evidence from MMSD, DNR, or Wehr Nature Center resources when available.
Conservation Charity Showcase and Public Evidence Defense
Teams combine members' individual research into a public conservation display, scaled event-space layout, shared budget, and evidence-based presentation with a call to action. At the faux charity event, members compare possible solutions, explain where the strongest evidence lies, answer visitor questions, and document shared decisions and revisions.
