Launch
Launch
Students will launch a conservation challenge, explore environmental problems affecting Wisconsin and sea habitats, and learn how evidence, mathematics, and collaboration will support a public charity showcase.
Days 1 - 2
Take a Position
Take a Position
Students will investigate competing conservation responses, connect an environmental problem to a Wisconsin region or sea habitat, and defend an initial position with preliminary evidence. Each student will complete a milestone packet containing a problem statement, initial claim, labeled habitat connection, and research question for deeper investigation.
Days 3 - 8
Gather and Weigh Evidence
Gather and Weigh Evidence
Students will evaluate environmental sources, weigh evidence that supports and challenges their conservation positions, consult community experts, and apply multiplication, area, and addition to preliminary charity-event plans.
Days 9 - 13
Build and Rehearse
Build and Rehearse
Students will build an evidence-based conservation recommendation, respond fairly to another view, and revise their conservation display, event-room layout, and budget through two feedback cycles. They will then complete a graded rehearsal that demonstrates readiness for the public charity showcase.
Days 14 - 18
Showcase
Showcase
Students will publicly defend an evidence-based conservation recommendation, explain their mathematical event plan, respond to authentic audience questions, and revise their individual work using visitor and peer feedback.
