Launch
Launch
Students will enter the project through a fast-paced studio launch that combines looking closely at community photographs, learning safe camera basics, and making their first image about community. They will leave with a concrete understanding of the driving question, the public exhibition purpose, and the expectation that strong photographs come from observation, ethics, feedback, and revision.
Day 1
Research & Empathy
Research & Empathy
Students will gather firsthand evidence about what community means in Fort Bragg by practicing ethical image-making, interviewing and observing with consent, and organizing quotes, field notes, and photo evidence into an empathy map that will guide later shooting decisions.
Days 2 - 5
Prototype & Validate
Prototype & Validate
Students will turn their research and early photographs into a tested photographic direction by clustering evidence, planning multiple concepts, making quick prototype images, gathering feedback from peers and community viewers, revising through a second shoot, and selecting one strengthened approach to carry into the showcase phase.
Days 6 - 9
Showcase
Showcase
Students will present their finished photographs and artist writing to an authentic audience, explain how feedback and observation shaped their final choices, and gather audience response that helps them reflect on what they contributed to the shared Fort Bragg community exhibition.
