Launch
Launch
Students will launch the TJ watershed investigation by gathering first-hand observations on a guided watershed walk, then use those observations, partner data, and a runoff model to begin tracing how pollution moves through habitats and what they want to investigate next.
Days 1 - 2
Research & Plan
Research & Plan
Students will turn launch-day observations into a focused investigation plan by studying how runoff and storm drains move pollution, drafting a testable question and hypothesis, and building a field-ready method for collecting trustworthy evidence. They will use peer and teacher feedback to revise their investigation tools so they are prepared to gather observations, sketches, photos, and water-related data in the next phase.
Days 3 - 5
Analyze & Present
Analyze & Present
Students will analyze field notes, maps, and partner evidence to identify patterns and anomalies in TJ watershed pollution, use critique to strengthen their interpretations and media claims, and finalize evidence-based portfolio and PSA/documentary/news report components before the public showcase.
Days 9 - 11
Showcase
Showcase
Students will share their TJ watershed media and before-and-after portfolios with families, classmates, and community partners during a final Watershed Watch Gallery Walk, then document how their claims, evidence, and solution ideas changed through feedback and revision across the project.
