Students will launch the student advisory board project by examining real school issues, gathering firsthand evidence about who is affected, and practicing board-style discussion moves such as taking roles, asking clarifying questions, and making shared decisions. They will leave Phase 1 with documented station notes, issue votes, and a first reflection slip that captures how their team worked together.

Students will sort empathy evidence from the Boardroom Blitz, separate problems from possible fixes, and write a focused How Might We statement that names a real user need the student advisory board can address. They will close the meeting with a reflection slip about how their roles, clarifying questions, and group decisions supported the team.

Students will use evidence from earlier empathy and problem-framing work to brainstorm several possible student advisory board responses, compare ideas against user needs, and choose one direction to carry into drafting.

Students will turn earlier empathy, problem-framing, and ideation work into a first student advisory board prototype by studying what makes an action plan testable, then drafting a visible version with roles, norms, priority issue focus, and three recommendation components. They will use evidence from station notes and user input, exchange feedback with peers, revise, and document collaboration decisions with weekly reflection slips for their portfolios.

Students will test their student advisory board action plan draft with authentic listeners, record user feedback, and identify specific revisions that will make their recommendations clearer and more feasible for the school community.

Students will use structured critique to strengthen their student advisory board action plan by giving evidence-based feedback, revising key parts for clarity and feasibility, and documenting how feedback changed their recommendations and team decisions.

Students will exhibit their student advisory board action plan, document how feedback shaped their recommendations, and complete a final portfolio reflection that identifies evidence of collaboration, user-centered design, and next steps for the school community.
