Launch
Launch
Students will launch the immigration inquiry by experiencing authentic community-based challenge stations, building foundational source-analysis and ethical documentation skills, drafting an initial investigable question, and revising that question through peer and teacher feedback before committing to a project pathway.
Days 1 - 4
Launch Curiosity
Launch Curiosity
Students will investigate a local immigration-services mystery through case vignettes, multilingual resources, and source comparison, then refine a focused inquiry question, draft an evidence-based hypothesis, and create an initial plan for gathering credible interview and observation evidence.
Days 5 - 11
Research Method Plan
Research Method Plan
Students will finalize a credible, ethical, and usable research method for investigating immigrant experiences and community supports. They will strengthen interview practice, source credibility checks, note-taking systems, and evidence coding so teams can gather comparable data in the next phase. By the end of the phase, each team will submit a peer-reviewed research protocol with shared templates, decision rules, and a clear plan for collecting and documenting evidence with community partners.
Days 12 - 18
Collect Evidence Sets
Collect Evidence Sets
Students will gather interview, case-study, and community resource evidence using the research protocol built in earlier phases. They will document source provenance, code barriers and supports, test emerging patterns against multiple sources, and improve their evidence logs through peer and partner critique before moving into full analysis.
Days 19 - 24
Analyze Patterns
Analyze Patterns
Students will analyze their collected interview, case-study, legal, and community resource evidence to identify patterns, contradictions, and anomalies across immigrant experiences. They will translate those findings into evidence-based claims and a draft bilingual resource-map structure, then test the strength of their reasoning through midpoint critique and revision before moving into final public product development.
Days 25 - 30
Showcase Evidence Map
Showcase Evidence Map
Students will finalize and test a bilingual interactive resource map, rehearse and deliver evidence-based case-study explanations for community audiences, gather critique from peers and partners, and revise public-facing materials so their findings, limitations, and recommended supports are accurate, usable, and defensible.
Days 31 - 36
Showcase
Showcase
Students will present their bilingual resource maps and case-study findings to community partners, defend their conclusions with corroborated evidence, revise public-facing materials based on final audience feedback, and document how their investigation changed their understanding of immigrant experiences and community support.
