Students will launch the candle making investigation by examining scent and text evidence, hearing from a community partner about real-world writing and production decisions, and drafting an initial research question plus reflection that will guide later research and writing.

Students will investigate candle-making variables through close reading, source evaluation, and method planning so they can frame a focused research question, build a hypothesis, organize an evidence log, and prepare a peer-reviewed investigation plan with clear self- and teacher-assessment checkpoints.

Students will organize candle-making evidence, create charts and comparison tables, interpret patterns and anomalies, draft evidence-based conclusions for a real audience, and rehearse their gallery walk communication through peer feedback, self-assessment, and teacher checkpoints.

Students will present their candle making investigation to an authentic audience through a gallery walk, explain how their evidence shaped their conclusions, receive teacher and visitor feedback, and complete a brief written self-assessment on their research, writing, and presentation choices.
