Launch
Students will enter the project by examining compelling artifacts, maps, images, and accounts tied to the early Islamic world; generate evidence-based questions; learn how museum-style historical investigation works; and produce their first inquiry materials for the team exhibit pathway.
Days 1 - 4
Wonder Spark
Wonder Spark
Students will examine mixed historical clues, practice turning curiosity into investigable questions, test tentative explanations against source evidence, and refine a hypothesis about how Islam changed medieval cultures, governments, and societies. They will document possible evidence, challenge weak reasoning through peer critique, and complete a gated question-and-hypothesis checkpoint that prepares them to design a research method in the next phase.
Days 5 - 9
Collect Evidence Systematically
Collect Evidence Systematically
Students will use their peer-reviewed research plans to gather, document, and check evidence for their museum exhibit topics. They will keep traceable notes, analyze source reliability, describe artifacts and places with precision, and refine their inquiry questions as they uncover patterns and contradictions across the early Islamic world.
Days 15 - 19
Analyze Patterns Shareouts
Analyze Patterns Shareouts
Students will review the strength of the evidence they have collected, organize it into maps, timelines, comparison charts, and cause-effect visuals, then test possible interpretations through structured peer discussion. They will identify patterns, contradictions, and missing evidence before turning their analysis into draft museum claims that can guide the next phase of exhibit creation.
Days 20 - 24
Conclude & Present
Conclude & Present
Students will synthesize their investigation findings into polished museum exhibit components, test how clearly their evidence supports their claims, revise through peer and teacher feedback, and complete a gated rehearsal that prepares them to present accurate, respectful, and engaging interpretations of the early Islamic world.
Days 25 - 29
Showcase
Showcase
Students will present their completed Museum Night exhibits to an authentic audience, explain their evidence-based conclusions about how Islam shaped the medieval world, gather and use feedback on exhibit clarity and historical accuracy, and complete a final reflection on inquiry, revision, and what still matters today.
