Students will launch the project by examining posters, textbook excerpts, images, and event cards to notice patterns in growing colonial conflict, then build an initial evidence-based idea about what pushed the colonies from protest toward revolution and what they will need to prove in the debate.

Students will take an early position on whether colonists should resist British control, analyze Patriot and Loyalist evidence from short source sets, build a first draft debate board, and use discussion plus peer feedback to identify the strongest counterevidence they need to investigate next.

Students will present and defend their final Patriots vs. Loyalists debate thinking to an authentic audience, use shared evidence from their timeline and debate board displays, and complete a brief reflection on how their claim changed or strengthened through discussion.
