Wonder & Question
Wonder & Question
Students will turn curiosity about the Grinding Rocks and Mission Trails resources into focused investigable questions, compare evidence from maps, images, stories, and artifacts, and co-design simple field methods they can use during the park visit. They will practice making tentative claims, planning what evidence to collect, and improving their questions and recording tools through peer feedback before moving into field documentation.
Days 3 - 8
Collect & Document
Collect & Document
Students will collect, organize, and quality-check evidence from the Mission Trails visit and museum sources by using field-note routines, sketches, partner interviews, and category sorting. They will document what they observed, compare evidence across sources, and prepare accurate records that can support later exhibit claims, captions, and labels.
Days 9 - 13
Analyze & Present
Analyze & Present
Students will analyze field notes, sketches, maps, photos, and artifact observations from Mission Trails to build evidence-based claims about Kumeyaay life. They will turn their findings into labeled visuals, captions, interview responses, and exhibit pieces, then use peer and visitor feedback to revise for accuracy and clarity before the final showcase phase.
