Learning Goals
Students will be able to plot and interpret pizza shop features on a coordinate plane using ordered pairs, all four quadrants, and absolute value to describe location and distance.
Students will be able to calculate and justify pizza shop measurements and prices using decimal operations, ratios, and fraction reasoning in realistic context problems.
Students will be able to revise a design based on user- and teacher-feedback by distinguishing problems from solutions, generating multiple ideas, and explaining evidence-based changes in a simple iteration log.
Products
Individual Pizza Shop User Research Sheet and Coordinate Prototype
Each student completes a one-page user research sheet with notes from at least one real user interaction and a simple sketch prototype of their pizza shop layout on the coordinate grid. The prototype must show how research informed one design choice and include a short evidence-based How Might We statement.
Team Pizza Shop Problem Statement and Revised Coordinate Map for Gallery Walk
Teams synthesize individual research into one shared problem statement and build a higher-fidelity coordinate map or service layout ready for testing and presentation. The final display must show how feedback and math evidence shaped the team’s decisions and revisions.
