Learning Goals & Products

Learning Goals

1

Students will be able to investigate neighborhood maps, transit schedules, and fare information to design a realistic off-campus route within a 2.5-hour class-session timeline.

2

Students will be able to distinguish a problem from a solution by defining an evidence-based How Might We statement from real user and stakeholder needs.

3

Students will be able to synthesize peer critique, direct user feedback, and their own reflections to refine an off-campus outing proposal.

First-Flight User Research Notes and Trip Prototype

Each student produces an evidence-based research artifact and a simple prototype for a possible off-campus outing. The work must show firsthand user input, a clearly stated problem, and a testable first idea connected to the student’s interests.

Route to Ready Off-Campus Proposal Packet and Transit Pitch

Teams combine individual research into one shared problem statement and a higher-fidelity outing proposal ready for feedback from authentic stakeholders. The packet includes the team’s revised route, timing, budget, safety plan, backup options, and a short presentation narrative explaining how user evidence shaped the solution.
