Students will enter a Madison-focused water emergency scenario, investigate local evidence about freshwater threats, and identify a first possible action families could take while beginning to reflect on why this issue matters.

Students will compare Madison freshwater issues, study possible solutions, and take an early evidence-based position with a partner. They will use maps, short texts, observations, and discussion to choose one issue, explain one reason for their claim, identify evidence they still need, and revise their thinking after peer and teacher feedback.

Students will strengthen their Madison freshwater claims by weighing supporting and challenging evidence, building a clear PSA argument plan, revising with peer and teacher feedback, and rehearsing how to defend their solution using specific local evidence.

Students will present their final Madison freshwater PSA to families, explain the evidence and process behind their solution, and reflect on how their teamwork and message can help the community take responsible action.
