Students will engage in sensory visits to green spaces, participate in empathy interviews with community partners and peers, and record observations in their Reflection Garden Journals to understand diverse needs and challenges in cultivating calming environments.

Students will articulate the specific community need for a green space that addresses bias and injustice, using reflections and community feedback to refine actionable design goals while considering sensory elements, plant properties, and civic impact.

Students will brainstorm diverse sensory garden themes and plant arrangements, collaborate with community partners to gather innovative ideas, and refine concepts by integrating mathematical, scientific, and aesthetic principles to develop actionable design plans.

Students will create small-scale models of plant layouts using recycled materials and natural elements, testing design feasibility and sensory integration while iterating ideas based on peer critique to refine the calming environment they aim to achieve.

Students will conduct a Community Feedback Forum during the Garden Showcase, soliciting insights and advice from attendees, then utilize this feedback to refine and enhance their sensory garden design before final presentation.
