Research
Research
Students will explore playground dynamics by participating in experiments, observing how different objects interact with push and pull forces, and engaging with visiting high school students who demonstrate these concepts, building a foundational understanding necessary for their toy and game designs.
Days 4 - 7
Create
Create
Students will collaborate to design and construct prototypes of toys or games using recycled materials, applying their understanding of push, pull, gravity, and friction to demonstrate these forces and prepare for community feedback.
Days 7 - 9
30 min over capacity (135 min available across 3 days)
Share
Share
Students will participate in interactive discussions to present and communicate their toy or game designs, receiving feedback from peers and guest high school students, integrating new perspectives, and refining their understanding of push and pull forces.
Days 10 - 12
30 min over capacity (135 min available across 3 days)
Reflect
Reflect
Students will spend three days reflecting on their toy or game design process by discussing their experiences, analyzing feedback from parents and peers, identifying improvements for their designs, and posting new questions on the 'Wonder Wall' to continue exploring the concepts of push and pull forces.
Days 13 - 15
No activities have been added to this phase yet.
Act/Apply
Act/Apply
Students will use recycled materials to design and create a toy or game that demonstrates their understanding of push, pull, gravity, and friction and present their final creations to their peers and parents, articulating their design decisions and how they applied these forces in real-world scenarios.
Days 16 - 18
No activities have been added to this phase yet.
