Launch
Students will launch their civic argument campaigns by analyzing persuasive public messages, learning from a Dallas-area community advocate, and testing rhetorical strategies in a one-minute campaign remix.
Days 1 - 2
Take a Position
Take a Position
Students will compare competing perspectives on Dallas-area issues, evaluate preliminary evidence, and commit to a defensible initial position. Each team will produce an audience profile, tentative policy claim, proposed action, and revised individual position briefs that establish a foundation for deeper research.
Days 3 - 5
Build the Argument
Build the Argument
Students will evaluate confirming and disconfirming evidence about a Dallas-area issue, map competing perspectives, and build a defensible argument with explicit warrants, a fair counterargument, and a policy-focused call to action. Teams will adapt this argument structure across their essay, mini-series, and social media outreach plan before passing a teacher-reviewed milestone gate.
Days 6 - 8
Revise and Rehearse
Revise and Rehearse
Students will stress-test their civic arguments, revise campaign products through peer and teacher feedback, and demonstrate readiness for the Rally for Change Showcase through a scored rehearsal and evidence-based oral defense.
