Launch
Launch
Students will launch the Animal Helpers project by observing campus spaces, naming animal needs, listening to community partners, and creating the first shared evidence and questions that will guide later design work.
Days 1 - 5
Observe & Record
Observe & Record
Students will observe campus habitats with community partners, record what they notice about animal needs, organize evidence into a class chart, and use drawings, labels, and short oral language to describe places that help or hurt animals.
Days 6 - 13
Name Needs
Name Needs
Students will sort campus observations into animal-need categories, identify one habitat problem supported by evidence, and create simple empathy artifacts that show what local animals need now and what is changing at school.
Days 14 - 21
Plan & Share
Plan & Share
Students will use their campus observations to co-create a simple design brief, generate and compare several animal-helping ideas, gather feedback from peers and community partners, and choose one fix to test next in their poster or bilingual class book work.
Days 22 - 29
Prototype & Test
Prototype & Test
Students will build and test low-fidelity animal-helper prototypes, gather feedback from classmates and school partners, and make a first revision that improves accuracy, clarity, and usefulness for the class book and museum display.
Days 30 - 37
Revise & Present
Revise & Present
Students will revise their animal-helper pages and posters using feedback from peers and school partners, prepare a short oral reflection, compare before-and-after campus habitat photos, and complete museum-ready display pieces for the class book and showcase.
Days 38 - 45
Showcase
Showcase
Students will present their Animal Helpers Museum work to families and school staff, use before-and-after habitat photos to explain campus changes, reflect on how their actions helped local animals, and celebrate the bilingual class book as a shared community resource.
