Launch
Students will launch the Kentucky history investigation by examining mystery artifacts, connecting clues to possible world events, and beginning to ask how those events changed life in Kentucky over time. They will also reflect on the Frazier History Museum visit with a quick timeline sketch and feeling response that captures an early idea for later research.
Days 1 - 2
Launch Investigation
Launch Investigation
Students will investigate Kentucky history clues by examining mystery artifacts, linking evidence to possible world events, and co-designing a simple plan for how they will gather trustworthy evidence in the next phase.
Days 3 - 8
Collect Evidence
Collect Evidence
Students will gather and organize evidence from museum notes, books, maps, and primary sources to investigate how a world event changed life in Kentucky and how cultural blending appeared through immigration, trade, food, music, or traditions. They will test the strength of their evidence with a midpoint quality check, refine their focused question and source set, and prepare a clear claim they can build into their museum display in the next phase.
Days 9 - 13
Analyze And Present
Analyze And Present
Students will analyze their collected evidence, turn research into museum-ready explanations and visuals, revise through peer feedback, and prepare for the family museum walk by clearly showing how a world event changed Kentucky and how cultural blending is visible in daily life.
Days 14 - 18
Showcase
Showcase
Students will present their Kentucky History Museum displays to classmates and families, explain how a world event changed life in Kentucky and how cultures blended, and reflect on how their thinking changed after gathering evidence from the museum, library, and classroom sources.
